National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is held annually during the second full week of April to honor public safety telecommunicators for their commitment, service, and sacrifice. This week is a time to celebrate and thank the men and women answering 911 calls in Washington County and across the nation. They serve our communities, citizens, and public safety personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Everyone's An Elf Project was started in 2003 by the "Elves" at the Washington County Communications Center. Employees donate toys and raise money to buy gifts for families in need during the holidays by having an annual bake/soup sale. The goal is to be able to sponsor several families each year. If you are wanting more information or are interested in donating to the "Elf" project please contact Cara Sorrells at 319-653-2107.
