[ARCHIVED] Press Release – Asphalt Scam

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a group of subjects in the area contacting residents about an asphalt scam. A group of subjects approach a resident and advise them that they just finished a job in the area and have left over asphalt. They ask if they can place the left over material on their driveway and charge a very large fee afterwards. The Sheriff’s Office asks Washington County residents to be aware of this scam and to contact them at 319-653-2107 if they are contacted or see suspicious subjects and trucks in the area. The scam that occurred yesterday was in the Riverside area and the name provided by the company was Cross Roads Chip Seal. Washington County residents can also find information on companies and prior complaints by searching online at the Iowa Better Business Bureau website: www.bbb.org/iowa.
